UpJourney exists to give people calm, practical guidance on the questions that shape a life: relationships, career, personal growth, and the habits in between. We ground our guides in lived expertise, which for us means the answers of people who do this work every day, not theory assembled from thin air. We would rather publish one clear, useful answer than ten pages of filler.
How our content is made
These standards cover everything UpJourney publishes, whether an article is bylined by an individual writer, a guest contributor, or the UpJourney Editorial Team. We publish four kinds of content, and each is made differently.
Expert roundups
Many of our guides collect answers from real practitioners: psychologists, therapists, coaches, hiring managers, authors, and other professionals who responded to our questions. More than 6,000 experts have been quoted across 1,000+ articles. We quote contributors with full attribution, show names and credentials as they were provided to us, and link to a contributor’s work where it is relevant to the reader. The experts we have quoted appear in our expert directory. Inclusion is editorial only; no one is quoted or listed because of payment or partnership.
Guides, how-tos, and explainers
Alongside the roundups, we publish practical guides, how-tos, and explainers, bylined by individual writers or by the UpJourney Editorial Team. The team researches each topic, drafts with the help of writing technology, including AI tools, and human-edits every piece before publication. Nothing goes live without a person deciding it is accurate, useful, and worth your time.
Quotes and affirmation collections
Our quote and affirmation collections are curated: we gather, select, and organize entries by theme, and credit quotes to their commonly attributed sources. Misattributions reported through our contact page are handled under the corrections policy below.
Book recommendations
Our book lists are independently selected, most often drawn from the recommendations of the experts we survey. Commissions never decide which books we recommend.
Attribution and removal
Experts who have contributed to our articles may ask us to update their name, credentials, or links at any time, or to remove their contribution entirely. Reach us through our contact page. We review attribution and removal requests on a rolling basis and honor every legitimate one.
Corrections
If you spot an error in any of our articles, factual or otherwise, please tell us through our contact page. We review reports periodically and correct confirmed errors.
