Are you concerned about things you’ll regret on your deathbed? What will you think and feel (on those last moments of life) about how you lived?
If you’re not, good for you because most of us do the best they can (their whole life) to make sure they get safely to death; forgetting that each moment of life is precious; once is gone, you can’t take it back.
Are you concerned about things you’ll regret on your deathbed? What about how you feel this evening? Will you have the satisfaction of knowing you’re honoring each day the greatest gift you have received, your life?
Do you wish to have a long life? Or, regardless of how long it will be, to feel you’ve lived your life to the fullest, enjoyed it, cherished it?
There is a Latin dicton (proverb) “carpe diem”, meaning seize the day.
Living by the Latin proverb “carpe diem” means to value each day of your life as if it were the last one.
We are not doing that when we allow our mind to get stuck in thoughts and ideas that bring us only sorrow and pain; when we put life on hold, waiting for something that may never happen.
Do you want a bigger house? That’s ok until you allow this desire to stop you from enjoying each morning, each afternoon, each evening.
Do you want to be slimmer? That’s ok until you allowed this desire to stop you from taking advantage of your talents and skills; preventing you from putting forward what’s best in you.
Do you want to have more friends? That’s ok until you allow this desire to stop you from appreciating the friends and family you have today.
We often get, as one of the Pink Floyd songs says “Comfortably Numb”.
Yes, to live your life to the fullest means, in part, to:
- Get out of your comfort zone
- Challenge your fears and outdated beliefs
- Learn something new every day
- Accept and love yourself as you are
- Make the most of everything you have (including take advantage of who you are today)
- Remember the past as a tool for progress (not a torture device)
- Stay connected and deepen your relationships
Living your life to the fullest doesn’t mean to be reckless, insanely courageous, or on the edge of existing.
Remind yourself each day that happiness is a choice. Someone else can’t make you happy; things can’t make you happy; success can’t make you happy (happiness is a success in itself).
What makes you happy, the most, it’s your state of mind, your thoughts, building great relationships and fantastic memories.
Are you scared of dying? Probably not; most of us are much more scared about being alive and not knowing. Live your life to the fullest and cherish every day as if it were your last.
